Maastricht University (MU), founded in 1976, is a public university with 16,300 students and 4,300 staff members. MU stands out for its innovative approach to learning and for its international outlook. Approximately 50% of our students and more than 30% of our teaching staff come from abroad. Most of the programmes are taught in English and European and international themes are deeply rooted in research and education. Our students and graduates have a real-world mind-set and a hands-on mentality with practical skills that enable a smooth transition from their studies to work. The MU Student Portal offers personalised information, advice and support to bachelor and master students. In 2018, a MyEmployability tab was introduced on the MU Student Portal to further boost the employability of MU students. MU has a substantial track record in facilitating international partnerships with the aim of developing the capacity of HEIs in low and medium income countries through the MU Centre for International Cooperation in Academic Development (MUNDO). MUNDO has implemented numerous capacity development projects with dozens of universities in Africa. One example is the Edulink project titled “African universities develop strategies addressing the implications of globalization” (2008-2010), a partnership of eight African and three European partners.
